Newcomers - Welcome!

We are glad you are here! Be sure to visit with us during the social hour after every service! There is more information available in the front entry, and you can speak with anyone on our Membership Committee about the membership process.

What Newcomers Want to Know

What should I (and my children) wear to this church?

Wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing! You will find most folks wear what might be termed "casual professional." Children frequently have art projects or other activities. They should dress so they can actively engage in the program.

Is there any childcare during the church service?

Childcare for infants and toddlers is offered before service starting at 9:00am, through and after the service until noon.

My child may get very bored with the service, is there activity for children during the service??

Sunday Service follows a format where children are invited to come to the front of the sanctuary to hear the children's story. After that, the congregation sings them to Children's Chapel. One of the Children's Chapel coordinators will discuss the story to pull more of the moral out, allow the children a time for joys and sorrows, sing a song or two and discuss one of the seven principles. It is essentially a mini service. Middle School and High School students are encouraged to stay for the service in sanctuary.

What about Sunday School?

Religious Education classes are held after the service for children, high school youth and adults.

If my child doesn't separate well, can she or he stay with me in the service?

Of course. You may also go to the Children's Chapel with your child if that would work better. We also have a comfort room where parents can still see and hear the service while tending to their young ones. It is at the rear of the sanctuary.

Are people of all races/beliefs/orientations welcome in this congregation?

Yes, definitely! We celebrate our diversity.

What goes on during the worship service?

We have music and hymn singing. We have readings from holy books from the great world religioins as well as secular texts. There is a short period for meditation/prayer. A time is opened where we share the milestones in our lives of our joys and sorrows. Our speakers range from various ministers from other congregations and religions as well as Lay Leaders and Pastors from other congregations along with some from our own.

After our service, we meet and mingle for coffee -- we would love to get to know you at that time!
